Farming greens is somewhat boring and subject to the luck of the draw, but I'm usually chatting away over guildchat while I do it and that makes it bearable. I'm usually doing pretty well when it comes to green drops and I can sell them in a minute because I sell them a few k under the rate of the day.

I do that because I HATE the trading system with a passion and the less time spent with it the better. So we do agree on some things.

Well, the things I mentioned before aren't impossible, but they can;t be done unless you're rich (Unless you spend ALL your cash on keys/skills/whatever).

I was also chatting with Guild Mates when farming (we were bragging about our loot all the time, and checked who got the most profit everyday :P) (darn my rival won - he got FoW armor 2 days before the update came, I only had 100K (20K now)

Anyway, I'm not so good with green prices, so selling them is too troublesome. I once used the Junundu farm build to farm Deatheater Longbows, Guru said they were worth around 30K, so I sold for 20K... After 2 hours still no buyer, and after 2 days I tried to sell for 5K and still nobody would buy.

Now my Assassin is full of greens which i can't sell (nobody in the Guild wants them for free, either)
EDIT: btw, my 'luck of the draw' is really worthless, so that's why the only way for me to make money was 'raw farming', without a certain item to find, cause I'd never find that item, anyway. with 'raw farming' I mean just selling the loot and get the gold, which I did with trolls etc. That kind of farming is now impossible, and green farming just isn't my thing cause I don;t have the luck for alot of greens, and not the time to sell them.

I only farm greens that I'd use myself or which I know go with popular builds on other classes. Hajkor's Flame, the 20/20 fire wand is reasonably easy to sell unsurprisingly.

Post Anet: I can't take this anymore.

That's the problem with these kind of threads. You probably already know of what this smells like. "Another freaking complaining childish retard who starts screaming doomsday prophecies as soon as his favorite class or spell gets nerfed".
Why, do people do this on fanforums, where fans are supposed to rally together? It's freaking hard for me to do this. To really try and get out here and speak my opinion without offending anyone. It seems impossible. That no matter how I say it, I will get flamed or knocked over. I'm fully aware that this is my opinion, I'm aware that it won't have an impact or change anything, but I still feel like that I need to get it off my chest, even though if no one agrees with me.

This is a personal open letter to ArenaNet. I don't expect them to care, read it. I don't expect anyone to have the same opinion or agree with me. I don't expect anyone to say /signed or whatever. I know we are all different, and that we have different perspectives of fun, and different perspectives on how we want to see this game moving forward.

Dear ArenaNet. It's been 3 great campaigns for me. It really has. But I can't take it anymore. I have played my main character for about 300 hours over the past 16 months. In that time I have taken him through countless of areas and monsters. But I can't take this anymore.
I cannot take another lvl 1-20 campaign. I want too, but I just can't take it anymore. I just don't feel like it. I just don't want to go through it again. I feel like that I have my bases covered.

I think it's time that you started doing some serious evolutionary ideas with this game. I think it's time that you started changing some things with this game.
I know that balance is crucial for many people who play this game. It has been the main reason to why all requests of further character progression has been denied. "It would ruin the balance", "the game is about skill".
Jeff Strain once said in an interview that the reason for Guild Wars great balance act, was because of James Phinny. The same guy who balanced the races in the legendary RTS game, Starcraft. If that's true then I think it's possible for this man to keep the balance while changing the game.
Call it level cap, call it alternative progression. Call it or do what you want.

I know that people already are going to scream at me. Going to tell me to go play another grinding game or something. That couldn't be further from the truth.
I just don't think it's interesting to get a few new armors and weapons and new skills after new campaign. I really want to take my character further. TO the next level. To the next phase.

I acknowledge that doing big changes might destroy the game into chaos and kill it. However, I also believe that if you don't try to innovative or take risks, then you have already failed. I also think the key to keep a game fun, is to change it. To surprise. Too take new changes. I already know that this will never happen. Humans are creatures of habit, and people hate change. That's why this thread is doomed to die before it has even begun.

I really don't know where I would like to see GW move from here. I just know that It's not interesting to me anymore, to just play the next campaign. I honestly felt that, while Nightfall was really good, that it was more of the same and it was. Campaign 4 is probably also aswell. I don't talk about little changes like adding mounts or some useless gimmicks. But actually taking the game further.

Im a big fan of this game. I don't think I will ever play another online RPG after this. I really don't. I don't see the appeal in any of these other games. I think this game does allot of things right, but I also think that the game is being hold back by the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" mentality. I think Anet is afraid of changing the game because of the outcry from community. And of course. Why not. Why shouldn't they be. Seems like it is the community who hates this game, more than anyone else.
I have had a ton of fun. I don't regret anything. I love every second of all my time with these 3 games. I will continue to play my three games, for a while.

But the next time, the 50 bucks are supposed to go down, I don't think I will be there. I really don't. And no one will care. I know. I'm not asking anyone too. I just don't want more of the same, because I got more than plenty right here.
And I am willing to risk this game, to try and make it better. Thats why I support big changes.

But long story short; I just don't need more campaigns. I don't need more skills. I really don't. I don't need more 1-20 storylines.
I wish I could do something really big and new. Not something small like a hero system or alliance battle. But really take it further.

Im going to get slaughtered for this. Who do I think I am? To come in here and write my opinion like anyone is going to care. Absolute madness. To come in here - A place where fans meet. How can it be considered anything other than a troll post? Or some wacky emo loser who has waited too long for a stupid hair dresser NPC or auction house.

I don't know mates. Another possibility is that im simply just not into this game anymore. 150 bucks gave me 300 hours worth of entertainment. I can't say that it has been a bad deal. But on the other hand I don't want it to end.

I really feel like that my character has become part of me. It's funny. I take him to different continents and equip him with exotic foreign stuff. It's been great. Why don't I want more of the same, if I think the three first games where fun? Why can't I just settle for more of the same? Why suddenly the urge to risk everything to get something new or expansive that will change the game.

As a fan it annoys me. It annoys me how the trend of GW has changed. The first game was very popular. It sold well. Got rave reviews. Allot of attention in the media. Factions sold pretty well. Was at the top of the charts for a month or so. Got decently reviews(around 8 most places). Got some attention in the media. Nightfall - Got dissapointing reviews despite claims of being better than Factions. Got very little attention in the media. Few reviews. It's like no one even cares about the game anymore.

Thats how it feels to me. Thats how it looks like to me. It looks like to me that this great player, becomes mediocre as he plays it safe, and while playing it safe, and not taking any changes, losses the edge, fanbase and will to lead and dominate. And again - That's only how I see it. I want this game to have sold 8 million copies and be the dominate online leader. But it ain't.

hurray for retarded for finding that out.

That was interesting to read.. and my opinion is that you should find another game, or another hobby, probably another hobby, one which doesn't involve computer games

Personally, I enjoy gw the way it is, if it gets too boring, I'll swap character or go do something else until I'm interested in it again.

heres some context

Factions - *6 months* of reviews
http://www.metacritic.com/games/plat...ons?q=factions
36 reviews with avg score of 84 (out of 100)

Nightfall - 4 weeks of reviews
http://www.metacritic.com/games/plat...ll?q=nightfall
16 reviews with avg score of 82 (out of 100)

for only 4 weeks,
plenty of positive media attention

I think Anet is acknowledging the level/item cap as becomming a problem themselves. Slowly but surely. Finding new content for each chapter not easy.
At the other hand: playing for so long, any game would become boring. I skipped Factions and I'm amazed how much fun heroes add. The game feels like reborn to me, despite of the level caps (and those who read my posts longer know that I would like higher level chr's and better gear ).

So maybe taking a break would help. To find chapter 5 has new features you really want

I personally hope ANet can come up with some ideas to make gaining XP after lvl 20 worthwhile. Most of the time there is a quest that gives a small amount of gold and about 2000 XP. Now, my character has 43 skill points thats not been used... why would he/she grind through the quest just for a small amount of XP?

Now, if you trying to get survivor title suddenly all quests become vital and worthwhile... with my on going survivor character i try to do any quest i can find for the extra amount of XP.

What the....? WTF?

You mean that each time that Gaile said that they are not Raising the lvl cap because it is what the Entire Game is based off / Balanced around, Where only banter and lies?

While you're certainly entitled to your opinion, that much drama should not arise from a computer game. Get a grip, take a break...

Yeah seriously, please dont make up crap. Anet has never "acknowledged" the level cap as becoming a problem. That's YOUR perception not theirs.

@ Pandora: The level cap at 20 is a nice thought out system. Why? Because you get a lot of content for that level, I think about 60% of the game which in a way is endgame content to say it easy. The other 40% is for levels 1 to 19.

It's one of the strong points of this game and I think they will never change that.

Let's say you can get to level 40 tomorrow for example, uw and fow and almost the whole game and all chapters would become too easy to return too.

@Lawn: I enjoyed your post and I understand where you're coming from. Increasing the level cap is not the best solution imo though.

Lawn, you coulda just quoted what I wrote I believe on the page before this..but I think you pretty much hit the nail in the coffin, without the preciseness I had . Seriously though, I think I support this viewpoint you have, but talking to some people on this forum and trying to argue with them is like participating in the special olympics...no matter who wins..in the end we still realize we're retarded.

Whatever, NF was the most recent chapter I bought, and will be my last.

I don't know if you get this, but it is more, at least for me, the time spent on this game, which is 800+ hours. If time isn't important to you..then really I am kinda speechless

800 hours or so TOTAL over 15 months, 170 or so on my main. I have 6 characters. I don't think I've done anything to be repetitive or specifically boring.

great point here. joy is in playing a game not in some kind of digital reward.

if you were to play a different game, say something from the Madden line, do you get joy from having that completed franchise on your memory card, or from the time you spent managing your team and playing the game?

if its the latter, its best if you find something other than video games to consume your time. time gaming is never wasted, as long as you had fun.

I quit GW yesterday because of all the issues and I have to say, it is more than a game. I met some of the best friends I will ever have while playing this game. There are people who met their life partners while playing as well. The guild I was in did everything from winning halls, being in the top 50 on the ladder, and everything imaginable on the PvE side. When real people are involved it's more than just a game. The changes that came with NF have caused myself and many of the friends that I made stop playing and that's not cool. I guess it had to end at some point, but not because someone is affraid to admit they screwed up. Thanks ANet.
